Bil som tvättmaskin?
Att bilen inte är en commodity skapar betalningsvilja för allt bättre bilar. Därför byter vi bil oftare än tvättmaskin. På 1990 talet jobbade jag för flera energibolag med marknadskampanjer på den då nyöppnade elmarknaden. Många företag hoppades då kunna differentiera produkten el och ta mer betalt för exempelvis ”grön el”. Det fanns förvisso några som var beredda att betala mer för detta, men med en så generisk handelsvara (commodity) som som el visade detta sig svårt. Istället tvingades företagen att hitta på andra koncept för att sälja just sin el. Idag finns ”grön el” och andra profileringar men energibolagen skulle nog gärna önska sig bättre möjligheter att särskilja sin produkt från andras. Jag minns hur mina elbolagskunder med avund såg på andra marknader.Detta gör att jag har så enormt svårt att förstå hur en del bildirektörer de senaste åren varit så begeistrade över att framgent försöka sälja mobilitet istället för bilar. Otaliga är de dyra bolagsbildningarna kring bildelning eller Mobility as a Service (MaaS) men i princip inget har klarat mötet med marknaden annat än som en nischprodukt.
