Mobilitet och motorsport – KAK och Svensk Bilsport startar samarbete om hållbarhetsfrågor
Svensk Bilsport och Kungliga Automobil Klubben, KAK, etablerar ett samarbete kring miljö- och hållbarhetsfrågor. Båda klubbarna är medlemmar i FIA; Svensk Bilsport inom sport och KAK inom mobility.
Miljö- och hållbarhetsfrågorna står högt på båda organisationernas agenda och det finns många möjligheter att utbyta erfarenheter och utveckla respektive organisations miljöpolicy, inte minst inför de teknikskiften som bilismen nu befinner sig i.
– I bilsporten utvecklas och testas den senaste tekniken. Det handlar om lätta och hållbara material, energieffektivitet och nu även elektrifiering. Bilismen i stort har mycket att lära av bilsporten och fler behöver förstå hur viktig sporten är för bilens utveckling. Genom ett tätare samarbete våra klubbar emellan kan vi snabbare nå framgångsrika resultat inom det miljö- och hållbarhetsarbete som våra båda klubbar brinner för. Vi delar redan vår passion för bilar och därför är det ett naturligt steg att även samverka kring de viktiga hållbarhetsfrågorna, säger Anders Ydstedt, ordförande i KAKs expertråd.
– Bilen är i förändring. Nya fossilfria bränslen kommer. Vi har elektrifiering och digitaliseringen som förändrar bilen. Morgondagens bil kommer att vara tystare, utsläppsfri och säkrare. Bilens och bilismens utveckling påverkar sporten som rekryteringsbas för engagerade på olika nivåer, med allt från förare och mekaniker till funktionärer och publik. Vi inom sporten har därför ett stort intresse av att samarbeta mer med entusiastklubbar som KAK för att tillsammans kunna förbättra bilismens hållbarhet. Vi hoppas samtidigt bidra till att öka intresset för bilens viktiga roll inom både sport och samhälle, säger Anna Nordkvist Generalsekreterare för Svensk Bilsport och FIA Vice President Sport Europe.
Inom FIA finns en uttalad ambition att öka samverkan mellan dess båda grenar sport och mobility. Detta samarbete mellan Svensk Bilsport och KAK stämmer väl in i denna strategi. Tillsammans kan klubbarna öka förståelsen och intresset för det arbete som nu sker både kring hållbarare bilism och motorsport. Ett arbete för framtiden som alla parter vinner på.
Samarbetet inleddes nyligen på Svensk Bilsports konferens Miljöforum med en diskussion utifrån respektive miljöpolicy.
Mobility and motorsport: KAK and Swedish Automobile Sport Federation announce sustainability collaboration
Swedish Automobile Sport Federation (Svensk Bilsport) and the Royal Swedish Automobile Club (KAK) are to collaborate on environmental and sustainability issues. Both clubs are members of FIA, the international motorsport governing body; Swedish Automobile Sport Federation in FIA’s sport arm and KAK in mobility.
Environmental and sustainability issues are top priorities for Svensk Bilsport and KAK, and considerable opportunities exist to exchange knowledge and develop the respective associations’ environmental policies, especially in the wake of the technological change motoring is now undergoing.
“The latest technologies are developed and tested in motorsport, such as light and durable materials, energy efficiency, and now electrification. Motoring in general has a lot to learn from motorsport and more people need to understand how important the sport is to the development of the motorcar. Through closer co-operation between our clubs, we can accelerate the success of the environmental and sustainability initiatives that both our clubs are passionate about. We already share a passion for cars, so it’s a natural step to collaborate on key sustainability issues,” says Anders Ydstedt, Chair of KAK’s Expert committee.
“Cars are changing. New fossil-free fuels are coming. Electrification and digitalisation are transforming the motorcar. The cars of tomorrow will be quieter, emissions-free, and safer. The evolution of the car and motoring affects motorsport in terms of being a recruitment base for people involved at all levels of the sport, from drivers and mechanics to officials and spectators. That’s why motorsport is so interested in collaborating more with enthusiast clubs such as KAK to improve the sustainability of motoring together. At the same time, we hope to contribute to increasing interest in the car’s key role in sport and society,” says Anna Nordkvist, General Secretary of Swedish Automobile Sport Federation and FIA Vice President Sport Europe.
FIA has a stated ambition to increase collaboration between its sport and mobility arms. The collaboration between Swedish Automobile Sport Federation and KAK aligns well with this strategy. Together, the clubs will increase understanding and interest in work that is now being done to make motoring and motorsport more sustainable – work for the future that will benefit all stakeholders.
The collaboration was recently launched at Swedish Automobile Sport Federation’s environmental conference, which included discussions on the respective clubs’ environmental policies.
Established in 1903, The Royal Swedish Automobile Club (KAK) is a nationwide charitable non-profit association with the main purpose of supporting the responsible development of Swedish motoring. KAK addresses issues related to cars and traffic, motor sports and social activities.
